Spiritual Worship

'Although God dwells not in temples made with hands, yet He honors with His presence the assemblies of His people.

He has promised that when they come together to seek Him, to acknowledge their sins, and to pray for one another, He will meet with them by His Spirit. But those who assemble to worship Him should put away every evil thing. Unless they worship Him in spirit and truth and in the beauty of holiness, their coming together will be of no avail. Of such the Lord declares, This people draweth nigh unto Me with their mouth, and honoreth Me with their lips but their heart is far from Me.' Matthew 15: 8, 9. Those who worship God must worship Him in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship Him.' John 4:23.' Prophets and Kings, p. 50.

The Purpose of the Services and Meetings of the Church

The experience of a Christian is one of spiritual rebirth, joyful reconciliation, faithful mission, and humble obedience to God (2 Cor. 5:17 Phil. 2:5-8). Whatever a Christian does, or participates in, including the services and meetings of the church, is a testimony of this new life in Christ and a sharing of its fruits in the Spirit. The purpose of the services and meetings of the church is to worship God for His creative work and for all the benefits of His salvation to understand His Word, His teachings, and His purposes to fellowship with one another in faith and love to witness about one's personal faith in Christ's atoning sacrifice at the cross and to learn how to fulfill the gospel commission of making disciples in all the world (Matt. 28:19, 20).

Participation in weekly church services is vital to one's spiritual health. Just as we eat daily for physical nourishment, our attendance and participation in church services help to rejuvenate our spiritual bodies, strengthen our spirits, and renew our commitments to the Lord. Let us all strive to be faithful&nbspin our devotion to the fulfillment of this important task.
